IT Services for Students

Overview

Microsoft 365 is available free of charge to all Charles University students and employees. The applications and services available to you depend on the Microsoft 365 licence assigned to your university account. Your licence is assigned automatically based on your relationship with the University (for example, degree student, employee, or external collaborator).

A3 Student License

Assigned to students enrolled in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programmes (both full-time and part-time).

With an A3 licence, you can:

  • use Microsoft 365 web applications,
  • install Microsoft 365 desktop applications (such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) on your personal devices, and
  • access Microsoft cloud services, including OneDrive and Teams.

Employee A3 license

The Employee A3 licence is assigned to Charles University employees with a valid employment contract whose work requires access to Microsoft 365 services.

A1 licence - assigned to selected groups of users, including:

students enrolled in lifelong learning programmes,
external collaborators,
individuals working under work agreements (DPP or DPČ), unless they are also enrolled as students,
other users who do not qualify for an A3 licence.

An A1 licence provides access to Microsoft 365 web and mobile applications only. It does not include installation of Microsoft 365 desktop applications.

Difference between A3 and A1 licenses:

A3 license - web applications, desktop applications and Microsoft cloud services

A1 license - web and mobile applications only
