Official communication with the Faculty

All students of the Faculty are required to use their university email address for official communication with the Faculty and its employees.

The Faculty uses your university email address as the primary channel for communication regarding your studies, academic matters, internal announcements, and student requests. Your personal email address provided during enrolment is not used as the main communication channel during your active studies.

Your university email address has the following format:

where XYZ represents a three-digit number assigned to each student (for example: jana.novakova321@student.cuni.cz).

Your student email account and Outlook mailbox are automatically created together with your Microsoft 365 account after successful enrolment. From that point onwards, your university email address is used for official communication between you and the Faculty.

Access to your student email

You can access your student email:

  • through the Outlook web application,
  • through the Outlook desktop application installed on your computer, or
  • through another email application supporting POP or IMAP protocols.

To access your email online:

Enter your university email address (ending with @student.cuni.cz).
You will be redirected to the Charles University Central Authentication Service (CAS) login page.
Log in using your university account credentials (the same credentials used for SIS).

Your username is your personal CU number, which is assigned to you by Charles University and can be found on your student ID card (e.g., ISIC).

If you have forgotten your login details, please follow the instructions provided on the CAS help pages.

For more information about logging in and using your university email, please see the related guides below.

Forwarding your university email

If you do not plan to regularly check your university Microsoft 365 email account, we strongly recommend setting up automatic email forwarding to another email address. This will help ensure that you receive important information from the Faculty on time and do not miss any important announcements or deadlines.

You can set up email forwarding in Outlook:

Open Outlook and click the Settings (⚙️) icon in the top right corner.
Go to Mail → Forwarding.
Enable forwarding and enter the email address to which you would like to forward your university emails.
Save your changes.

All emails sent to your university email address will then be automatically forwarded to the address you have provided.

Important

When replying to emails from the Faculty or your teachers, always send your reply from your official university email account (@student.cuni.cz).
This ensures that the recipient can identify you as a Charles University student. Replies sent from a private email address may not be recognised or may not receive a response.
