Traditional Movement Composition Show Enthralled Once Again!

On Thursday, 22 May, our faculty hosted the traditional Movement Composition Show, organized by the Department of Gymnastics and Combat Sports. The event offered a vibrant palette of choreographies, original ideas, and dynamic atmosphere – and this year, it introduced several new features!

Right at the beginning, the audience was lifted by a group aerobics choreography with skipping ropes – a movement-based gift for all performers. It was prepared by students from the optional aerobics course together with students from the Rhythmic Gymnastics course. Their energy set the tone for the entire day.

The opening ceremony included the awarding of certificates to students who participated in the international Sport4Art project, which connects sport and art. The Vice-Dean of the Faculty, Lenka Henebergová, expressed her gratitude and encouraged further cooperation.

The showcase was officially opened by Vilma Novotná, former head of the Department of Gymnastics and one of the founders of this beautiful tradition. She dedicated her entire professional life to the creation of movement compositions. This year’s showcase featured a total of 28 performances by both bachelor’s and master’s students. Despite the rain and the need to move the entire event from the outdoor arena to the gymnasium, both the organizers and the performers handled the situation with admirable flexibility and confidence.

A new addition this year – Audience Voting! – brought suspense and excitement. The choreography titled "Ti ostřílení" (The Veterans) received the highest number of votes, immediately winning the hearts of the audience. Vice-Dean Aleš Vlk, who closely followed the entire event, awarded the winner of the audience vote and also announced the nominees for the January Sports Ball.

We thank all students for their outstanding performances, the organizers for the smooth course of the event, and the audience for the fantastic atmosphere.

We look forward to the next edition of the Movement Composition Showcase!
