Motion Brings Me Joy and Warmth

We cordially invite everyone to the next continuation of our series Movement warms me. You can run, walk or try out a handbike ride.

  • WHEN: April 15, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • WHERE: Athletic stadium FTVS UK, José Martího 269/31, Prague 6 - Veleslavín

  • WHO: Everyone who wants to move and contribute to a good cause - the event is not only for students and staff of our faculty, but for the general public.

This year, Motion Brings me Joy and Warmth is part of the Run and Help project organized by Konto Bariéry. This will be the 11th year of this national running event, which runs from April 1 to June 30. Proceeds from the charity runs will be donated to purchase sports prostheses for Kuba, Elena and Petya. The project is for everyone who enjoys exercise and also likes to help others. Moreover, everyone can customize it - choose the place, time, sports activity and the amount of the entry fee, which is equal to the amount of the donation to help a specific person with a disability. Thousands of children and adults across the Czech Republic participate in Run and Help.

The destination we want to reach this year is the Swedish capital Stockholm, where the Charter 77 Foundation was founded by František Janouch at the end of 1978. Konto Bariéry, the longest-running fundraiser in the Czech Republic dedicated primarily to people with disabilities, is the best-known activity of the Charter 77 Foundation. We are therefore looking at a distance of at least 1273 km.

The ceremonial start at 14:00 will be attended not only by the faculty management but also by the students of FTVS UK, who successfully represented the Czech Republic at this year's Winter Universiade in Turin, Italy. Members of the golden hockey team Natálie Brichová and Lucie Eignerová, hockey player David Jindra, skier Marek Müller, ski mountaineer Michal Strejc and speed skater Radek Fajkus have promised to participate. Tereza Jakschová, a parasport athlete who represents the Czech Republic in athletics, will also be at the start.

We are very pleased that the Czech Paralympic Committee and the Journey to a Dream project are also partners of our charity event. Our thanks go to our traditional supporters DECATHLON, KPMG and MATTONI.

For the first time in the history of charity runs, we are linking our activities with the Sport Connects student initiative implemented within the Youth Connect for Ukraine project, which is supported by the British Council. This unique project gives students and the general public the opportunity to express solidarity with Ukraine through sport and active participation in public life. From 26 March 2025, runners and fans can become part of an online community on the Strava platform, where for 20 days they will walk together the symbolic distance between Kiev, Prague and London. The project will culminate on 15 April 2025 with the charity run Warm Me Movement, when under the slogan Sport Unites we will join forces not only on the route, but also in support of a good cause. Anyone who believes that sport has the power to unite and inspire can join in. Read on for details of the student project.
