Erasmus+ KA2 Sport4Art

Sport4Art – An innovative approach to higher education in EHEA: Sport in Art

The Erasmus+ Sport4Art project connects the worlds of sport and performing arts through an innovative dual-specialization program for students of sport sciences. Together with partner institutions from Bulgaria, Spain and France, Charles University is co-developing a unique international curriculum that combines theoretical study with creative, practice-based training in staging sport-themed performances.

The project brings together:

  • National Sports Academy "Vassil Levski" (Bulgaria) – project coordinator

  • Charles University – Faculty of Physical Education and Sport (Czech Republic)

  • University of León – Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (Spain)

  • Association Nationale Cultures du Monde (France) – a cultural NGO

  • NuBoyana Film Studios (Bulgaria) – associated partner for audiovisual production

Throughout the project, students take part in joint learning activities, co-create stage productions under the theme "To the Planet Earth with Love", and develop new skills applicable across the sport, education, and cultural sectors. The program equally emphasizes digital transformation and sustainability, culminating in a final artistic performance that will be professionally filmed and shared as a digital showcase of student creativity and teamwork.

At Charles University, students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport actively participate in pilot courses designed to develop their skills in stage performance and movement expression. These courses are closely linked to the project's final artistic production. The first pilot course, launched during the 2024/2025 academic year, introduced students to the basics of sports staging and concluded with a certificate of participation. The next pilot course will be held in the winter semester of 2025/2026.

Approximately 30 students are involved in these activities, supported by academic staff and members of the Department of Gymnastics and Combat Sports, who also contribute to the project’s artistic and pedagogical development.

The project also includes transnational partner meetings to coordinate progress and share good practices. The first meeting was held in 2023 in Sofia (Bulgaria), followed by meetings in 2024 in León (Spain) and in Prague (Czech Republic), which we proudly hosted in February 2025. The next and final partner meeting will take place in Gannat (France) in summer 2026, coinciding with the student performance premiere at the international Cultures du Monde Festival.

Stay tuned for the grand finale in 2026!
